The Anglican Internet Church is a new kind of Anglican Church for the 21st Century, one which is truly holy, catholic and apostolic and speaks to the world in the language of the 21st Century. We are not interested in preserving any particular national or cultural identify, whether English, Scottish, Irish or any other. We are committed to bringing back into the Western Church the teachings of the Fathers and Mothers of the early Church and of the Seven Ecumenical Councils, all celebrated according to traditional Anglican forms of worship, but which also respect the traditions of other conservative, apostolic denominations.
We welcome traditional Christians of all denominations and worship using traditional Book of Common Prayer liturgies. Our large print, large page format St. Chrysostom Edition of the Book of Common Prayer is easily readable by all, with complete instructions for each section on when to sit, stand, kneel or respond. For those with reading difficulties, we also offer a limited number of Large Print copies of the St. Chrysostom Hymnal.
The Anglican Internet Church is brought to you by St. John Chrysostom Anglican Church,
the Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Shibley, Rector. We offer a "bricks and mortar" church at St. Joseph's Villa Chapel, 8000 Brood Road, Richmond, VA, one of Richmond's most beautiful worship spaces, but we also provide an innovative electronic ministry that puts reliable, traditional teaching and preaching within reach of the faithful wherever they live. Among our unique features is:
- St. Chrysostom Edition, Book of Common Prayer Our own version of the 1928 BCP is 8.5" x 11" with 20 point titles and 18 point text. It was designed to encourage full participation by everyone, including visitors not familiar with Anglican worship. It also includes the full text of our special services for which no specific liturgy is provided for in the original 1928 book, such as Maundy Thursday, Easter AM, Ascension Day, Transfiguration Day, Christmas Eve, the traditional "O" Antiphons for Advent season and a 1928 BCP harmonized version of the original Anglican Holy Eucharist celebration from the 1549 Book of Common Prayer. - St Chrysostom Hymnal Because we believe that joyful worship and song should be available to all, we have produced our 500+ song Hymnal, offering the most singable traditional hymns and carols from the 1940 Hymnal, plus songs found in older Episcopal and Anglican hymnals, plus devout, theologically-correct hymns from other denominations. The single standard is that all music must be singable by the average lay person and require no special choral skills.
- Digital Library The Digital Library never closes. From the Digital Library page anyone, anywhere, anytime can access our PodBean archive of audio files in MP3 format from the left column and our videocasts through our UStream Channel in the right column. Visit the Digital Library
- Bookstore The AIC Bookstore is where you will find our unique teaching, study and training materials in either conventional hard paper format or our new eBook format that is readable on nearly all brands of handheld reader devices and computers. In 2012, additional titles will be added based on programs offered previously only in audio or video format.
- Anglican Hour This unique program offers teaching and study broken into 15-30 minute "episodes." In 2012, three new series are planned for initial live broadcast during January through April. Time permitting, additional broadcasts are planned on specific topics. Learn more about The Anglican Hour
- Christian Spirituality As a step toward restoring the connection between the 21st Century Church and its roots in the early Church, we're increasing our effort to broaden understanding of Christian Spirituality. We've created a new page and also revised, expanded and reformatted our UStream series Christian Spirituality: "Seeing" the Face of God into MP3 podcast accessible to a larger audience. We'll also produce the same material in an illustrated pocket-sized book to be available in A. D. 2012 from the Bookstore.
