Rector:  Fr. Ronald E. Shibley

Fr. Ron was born in 1942 in Fredericksburg, VA, where he attended kindergarten and public school (grades 1-12).  He holds a B.S. in History from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, VA (1964), an M.A. in History from the University of Virginia (1966), and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia (1972).  He and his wife Corkie reside in Mechanicsville, VA, a ten minute drive from St. Joseph's Villa Chapel.  He and Corkie have two grown children, Laurie S. Throckmorton, Goochland, VA, and Christopher Shibley, Dayton, TN, and three grandchildren.

Fr. Ron is an independent financial advisor and an avid gardener.  Flowers from the Shibley garden in Mechanicsville meet our Church's needs from mid-April through mid-November.  He is the published author of three non-fiction books on his home town. 

Fr. Ron is also the Compiler and Editor of our Christian Education Study Publications (see PUBLICATIONS tab for details).  These include Prayers in the Christian Tradition (3rd Edition); St. Chrysostom Hymnal;  The Prayer Book Psalter: History, Text and Commentary; The Layman's Lexicon: A Handbook of Scriptural, Theological and Liturgical Terms; and Awesome Prayers to Our Awesome God.  He is currently working on a new set of Daily Offices for us by lay persons and Volume II, Prayers in the Christian Tradition.  The new collection of prayers will include prayers for occasions and circumstances, including bereavement, travel, church meetings, sickness, thanksgiving, and prayers for the armed forces.

Lay Reader & Senior Warden: H. Click Smith, Sr.

H. Click Smith, Sr. is our Senior Warden and Lay Reader.  Click is a retired public servant with experience in disability training, teaching and counseling.  He has worked extremely hard on the restoration of the plaster capitals in the Chapel and on re-conditioning the exterior doors of the Chapel.  Each Thursday afternoon you will find him waxing, polishing and cleaning pews, or sweeping the floors, or polishing the altar, or whatever else needs doing to keep the Chapel looking good.
